Has anyone come across this scenario: doing a revision of a reconstructed breast, fat injection into breast and revision of abdominal scars from donor site. The abdominal scar sites were corrected by suction assisted liposuction. But then they used the fat harvested from the liposuction and injected into the breast to correct a 1cm area that contracted inward. If we are coding CPT 19380 for the reconstruction, other work done which isn't included in my description. My questions is: Is it appropriate to code CPT 15877 for the liposuction of the abdominal that corrected the scar sites and 15771 & 15772? (injection of fat from liposuction into breast) Procedures were done to treat different issues. Thanks for comments.

Hi all - I use the 15771 and 15772 based on documentation of the amount of fat transfer. 15771 and 15772 is specific to "grafting" to contour the breast deformities, whereas 15877 is liposuction to get rid of fat in that area. Does that make sense? Happy to help with any other coding questions :)
