How would you code these?

Estrogen Receptor (ER)
Positive (percentage of cells with nuclear positivity: 11-20%)
Average intensity of staining: Weak
Progesterone Receptor (PgR)
Negative
Internal controls present and PgR positive (as expected)
Her2 (by immunohistochemistry)
Negative (Score 0)
No staining observed
Percentage of cells with uniform intense complete membrane staining: 0%
Thanks.

Oh, these can be a thorn in the side!

It depends on how they were performed, and if your practice is like mine, it varies from provider to provider!

Your example looks like either 88360 x3 or 88361 x3

When there's a result reported as quantitative/semi-quantitative (that is, reported as a % or "2+", as opposed to positive or negative), then we're directed to either 88360 or 88361. The difference between these two is that 88361 uses computer-assisted technology for the interps.

One of our groups always sends these to the same lab & I get a copy of the result report, I see the results the computer generated pictures, so I am confident in reporting 88361 x4 when they do ER,PR, HER2 and Ki-67 by IHC.

Other times, more digging and questioning is involved. Good luck!
Megan

(There are basic IHC (88342) versions of ER/PR too, which would just be reported as Pos or Neg.)
