The healthcare system I work for has just "purchased" a Urology practice. The MD see's the patient and places an order for bladder instillation of Gemcitabine (J9201). The RN performs the procedure in an outpatient procedure room in the hospital. Can a nurse perform this procedure?

I was able to find information on the American Urological Association site which states the follow providers can perform the procedure: MD/DO, NP, PA, RN, LPN, MA. The article goes on to state that there must be special training and suggests an annual competency program.

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.
