I have a patient who had a rad prostatectomy for prostate cancer 4 years ago and now has reached the definition of biochemical failure and is being referring him to Radiation Oncology. My question is is there a code for biochemical failure or would just use C61?

You should check the notes to see if the pt's PSA has risen; if it's after treatment, us R97.21 Rising PSA following treatment for malignant neoplasm of prostate. I don't know of any code specific for biochemical failure. Hope this helps
