My provider is interested in starting group counseling/education sessions for his diabetic patients. I have somewhat extensively researched different codes regarding this. I have checked out the fee schedules for different codes as well. My confusion is this: I am not understanding whether or not 99211-99215 should be billed in addition? I have seen 99078 should be used, however, there is no clear answer on whether or not this should be billed. I did find 99411-99412 (preventive medicine counseling/risk factor reduction in a group setting). 99411-99412 states that an E/M should be coded as well with a modifier -25, however, I have found articles that state not to code 99211-99215 with the 99411-99412. Does anyone have experience in billing this that can offer advice? My provider is looking to get this underway ASAP (of course).
