Hello. Our PT department wants to provide customized sole supports for their patients and we are trying to find out if this is a billable item. We are a CAH hospital and PT is one of our outpatient departments. Now, I read on the CMS website that something that is a custom fit product should be billed to the A/B MAC and/or through DME. We do not have a DME license. So, my questions are 1) can we bill this as a supply (270 rev code) or should this be billed with a HCPCS code or can they be billed at all. Again, we are not a DME provider but our Physical Therapist has been trained and is a licensed provider with this particular company. That is another question and perhaps a compliance question. Should we be billing these or does this sound like a compliance issue? Thank you!!
