Wiki Anxiety after MVA

I have a 5 yo patient that was seen because he just got in MVA for the 2nd time in a month.. he was passenger, no injuries. But now has anxiety of car rides now. SHould i code 300.00 with an E code for MVA or do yall have another more specify suggestion.

Take a look at these options for consideration based on chart documentation. 309.81 Adjustment reaction posttraumatic and the MVA E929.0 Late effects of MVA. Those maybe more specific to this young man's experience.

I am gathering, from what you stated,that this child was recently seen for an exam following a new MVA, so I would go with 308.0 and the appropriate E code. A late effect is a residual effect after the acute phase of an injury or illness has run its course. IF the child is still in the acute phase then the late effect code would not apply.
