Our psychologist saw a scheduled patient with low/moderate dementia. The patient was not willing to talk but an encountered occurred of an assessment type. I was looking at CPT code 96156 but not sure if it would apply as we would have to code with a medical code and Dementia F02 as secondary. Would advise would you give me from a billing perspective.

CPT code 96156 is used to describe health behavior assessment, or re-assessment, that is conducted through health-focused clinical interviews, observation and clinical decision-making.
