My physicians are planning to add back annual GYN exams once nonessential visits are allowed. To continue to lower the risk of COVID-19 exposure in the office, they are planning to do the history and discussion part of an annual as a phone call or video call then have the patient come into the office at a later time for the physical exam. I'm thinking that the only billable code will still be 99384-99387 or 99394-99397. My question is which date of service would I use? The date the initial call takes place and the note is opened, or the date the physical is rendered and the note is signed as complete.
