We have an ECMO patient that is being transferred in an ambulance, and the perfusionist is in attendance. Can we bill for the additional person (the perfusionist)? Would we bill A0434, SCT (specialty care transport) and A0424, extra ambulance attendant? It is necessary that the perfusionist be in attendance since this is an ECMO patient who is very ill. Thanks.
