Does 23550: Open treatment of acromioclavicular dislocation; acute or chronic. Does CPT include use of allograft? If not, how to code the use allograft? Should I use modifier 22?
Procedure performed: Reduction of the acriomioclavicular joint and reconstruction of the ligaments (the coracoclavicular ligament as well as the acromioclavicular ligament) by using allograft. Two allografts were used. One allograft was used to reconstruct the coracoclavicular ligament. The second smaller one was use to reconstruct the acromioclavicular ligament. The same graft was passed from the clavicle around the coracoid and brought up. Then sliding sutures were used to hold the reduced position of the acromioclavicular joint.
