I'm wondering if someone can help me: I'm looking for the code for administration only of Prevnar; the patient got the vaccine itself at the pharmacy. 90471 was used, but denied due to lack of a serum code.
Thank you
You'll need to bill the serum code but use a zero dollar or one penny charge to indicate that it was at no cost to your provider. Most insurance companies are not able to make a benefit determination as to whether or not the administration is a covered benefit without knowing what vaccine or drug was actually given, so this is the usual way to give them this information.
