Can someone help me with the difference between these two. I understand that the 76770 is the retroperitoneal complete, but what does the 76775 limited consist of?

When there are ultrasounds of the same area, with one being complete, and the other limited, the limited is used if you are not examining all of the organs in that body area.
Per SuperCoder:
A complete ultrasound exam of the retroperioneal area (76770) "consists of real–time scans of the kidneys, abdominal aorta and urinary bladder, according to "Abdomen and Retroperitoneum" guidelines.
If fewer than the required elements for a "complete" exam are reported (e.g., limited number of organs or limited portion of region evaluated), you should report the code for a limited exam (76775). For example, your best bet for an ultrasound of the kidneys is 76775.

As per the CPT guidelines for Ultrasound Retroperitneum, "...if clinical history suggests urinary tract pathology, complete evaluation of the kidneys and urinary bladder also comprises a complete retroperitoneal ultrasound."

Hope this helps,
