Hey Guys,
Which code would you use here?
I thought it was 50387, but then my CSI book states 50382-for a completely internal ureteral catheter or stent (for example a double-J stent) via a percu approach. I still think it should e 50387...any takers?
Margie
PROCEDURE: The catheter insertion site in the cutaneous right
flank was prepped and draped in sterile fashion. A retrograde
nephroureterogram was attempted by placing a dilator through the
ureteral stent and injecting contrast. There was however marked
resistance to the injection and a nephroureterogram could not be
performed. A glidewire was inserted through the catheter and
coiled in the renal collecting system. The existing catheter was
removed over the wire and with fluoroscopic guidance a new 8m
French 20 cm double-J nephroureteral was stent was advanced over
the wire with the proximal loop in the transplant kidney
collecting system and the distal loop just outside the skin.
Images were obtained to confirm the position. Dressing was
applied.
Successful uncomplicated 8 French 20 cm double-J
nephroureterostomy catheter replacement.

Guys,
Can you take a look at my question below...pretty simple...but i'm not sure whether to use 50382 or 50387...thought it was 50387 but book uses double j as an example for 50382.
