Hi all!!

I am trying to code a procedure and i am a bit confused.

The patient has a history of uterine fibroids but is being seen for menorrhagia. The MD proceeded to embolize both uterine arteries. In the findings of the angiogram, he describes the fibroids as calcified but in the description of the procedure there is no mention of the actual fibroids being treated in this particular encounter. Will code 37210 still apply because of the history although embolization is not directly treating the fibroid.

Any input will be great. Thank you in advance.

This is a case where querying the doc is important. Menorrhagia is a symptom of Uterine Fibroids. Not reading the report but from what you have stated I would not coding anything except 37210
