Does anyone know if 40490 would still be used for a shave biopsy of the lip? Or would I use 11102 since shave technique is being used.
 
The new biopsy codes replace the previous biopsy code in the integumentary system. So if it qualified as a 40490 it continues to do so in 2019. I forget what the border is that makes it biopsy of lip vs biopsy of the skin.
