Try this efficiency booster for yourself today If you need to check a code or two on the fee schedule in a hurry, CMS offers a look-up tool that only takes a few seconds. Here's how it works: 1. Head to http://www.cms.hhs.gov/PFSlookup/. 2. Click Physician fee schedule Search. 3. Choose the year, number of HCPCS (remember, HCPCS includes CPT) and type of information. Choose "Pricing Information" if you want pricing specific to your location. 4. Continue to follow the instructions until you get the information you-re searching for. Example: You want to know a Miami practice's reimbursement for 28400 (Closed treatment of calcaneal fracture; without manipulation) for a service performed in 2007. You select: - 2007 - single HCPC code - pricing information - next. On the next page, you select: - specific locality - default fields - next. On page 3, you enter: - HCPC: 28400 - modifier: global - carrier locality: Miami, FL (selected from a list) - submit. The result page shows that the nonfacility limiting charge for 28400 in Miami is $270.07 for 2007 procedures and the nonfacility price is $247.20.
