ICD-10-CM Coding:

Know There’s No Specific ICD-10-CM Option for Documenting ‘Gummies’

Question: Which code would I use for documenting the accidental ingestion of a cannabis gummy?

Oregon Subscriber

Answer: At this point, there isn’t a gummy-specific diagnosis code option in ICD-10-CM. Your best bet is probably T40.711A (Poisoning by cannabis, accidental (unintentional), initial encounter). There aren’t any code options that differentiate cannabis consumption between gummies, cookies, candy, or other edibles versus smoking; there is a code option specific to consumption of cannabis via vaping, which is U07.0 (Vaping-related disorder).
