Smooth Cahaba-CIGNA Switch With 'Early Boarding'

If you're an HHA or hospice currently served by Cahaba GBA, watch the mail for a packet from CIGNA Government Services on "early boarding" for billing. CIGNA takes over Cahaba's Medicare contractor duties June 13. Under early boarding, providers submit "claims to CGS prior to the cutover to avoid tight timeframes for transitioning during cutover weekend," the Medicare Administrative Contractor says on its website. "Early boarding helps to mitigate any disruption in EDI services during the J15 HH+H workload transition." Under the program, providers will submit claims to CIGNA, but Cahaba still will process them up to June 13. However, providers won't receive the daily log report they currently receive from Cahaba, CIGNA says. "You will receive an early boarding packet via mail in the mid-April timeframe," CIGNA says.
