Industry Note:

Check Out Your OASIS-D Tool

Are you ready to collect these 2 newly added items at Follow-Up?

Medicare may have spelled out its OASIS-D changes, effective in January 2020, in its 2019 HH PPS final rule. But now you can get a look at the actual assessment tool.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has posted the OASIS-D forms on its OASIS Data Sets webpage. “Revised versions of the OASIS-D All Items instrument and the Follow-up (FU) time point instrument are available,” CMS says. “These versions are effective January 1, 2020. The original OASIS-D versions for all other time points remain in effect as of January 1, 2020.”

Important: “Two existing items are added to the Follow-Up time point for data collection” under OASIS-D1, consulting firm Fazzi Associates reminds providers on its website. They are M1033 (Risk for Hospitalization) and M1800 (Grooming). (For other OASIS-D changes, including the 19 items becoming optional at followup, see Eli’s HCW, Vol. XXVIII, No. 13).
