AAPC's Emerging Leaders ProgramNurturing tomorrow's leaders today.
Recently launched in 2024, AAPC Emerging Leaders Program is designed to identify, develop, and elevate the next generation of leaders.
Developed and administered by AAPC’s National Advisory Board, up to 40 competitively selected applicants will complete a 10-month virtual leadership training program May 2025 through February 2026.
Why an Emerging Leaders Program?

Emerging Leaders Program overview
The Emerging Leaders program employs a curriculum that blends traditional leadership principles with contemporary strategies, ensuring participants are equipped with robust leadership skills fit for today’s healthcare settings. Participants will connect with and learn from industry leaders and expand professional networks.

Emerging Leaders Program learning methods
Based on real-world scenarios, participants will complete a series of rotational assignments that prepare them for the challenges of leadership. Reading assignments, practice exercises, practical applications, interactive video/audio lectures, written assignments, quizzes, exams, group discussions, case studies, team projects, and discussion boards will be employed.

Program duration and schedule
Live, virtual classroom-style instruction
10-month program May - February
Final team project due in March
2-hour class sessions monthly
20 hours total instruction, plus study and preparation
Saturday mornings or weekday evenings
Course enrollment fees
There is no cost to participate in the Emerging Leaders Program
No CEU credit offered for participation
Applicant eligibility criteria
Active AAPC members in good standing for at least 2 years
Holds 1 or more AAPC core certification (CPC, COC, CIC, CRC, CPMA, CPB)
Has 3-5 years’ experience in healthcare OR 1+ years supervisory experience
Regular attendance at AAPC Local Chapter meetings
