How should I prepare for my practice exam?
To accurately assess readiness for your upcoming exam, we advise treating your practice exam session(s) as if you are taking the actual test.
Come prepared: Identify the physical books/reference materials allowed for your exam. All other materials/documents required to take the exam are provided within the electronic exam platform. Note that all AAPC exams are based on the current calendar year’s code sets, and it is strongly recommended that you use this year’s books
Familiarize yourself: Watch this tutorial video to familiarize yourself with the electronic exam platform. Select "Navigate your Exam" to learn how to navigate your practice exam, and your real exam.
Be focused: Take this practice exam in a quiet place, with as few distractions as possible.
Pace yourself: At the beginning of your practice exam, take note of the number of questions and the time allotted for the exam. Use the timer in the exam to keep you on pace to answer all the questions. (For example, 50 questions in 2 hours would require answering each question under 2.5 minutes.)
