Good morning,

Does anybody code the Z code along the with malignant breast code when billing the ACIS with ER positive?

Thanks
Mary

For in-situ? Ductal or lobular CIS that codes to D05.-, no.

Only for primary malignant carcinoma/adenocarcinoma that codes to the C50.- family tree. The notation to use additional code for the ER +/- status only appears under the C50.- tree. If the ER +/- status is noted or your path ran markers for it and documented it, you should include it after the principle code for the breast cancer. If you use 3M or a similar encoder logic program, it should also remind you to add it if available.

The ER/PR/Her-2 receptor tests help the treating physician in determining how to treat invasive carcinoma and creating a targeted plan of treatment for a specific patient.
