Wiki Xrays done in an orthopedic suite

I would love to hear from other ortho coders. I am trying to convince my practice that to charge the global fee for an xray that there has to be a seperate report for the interpretation. Is this the policy that others follow? Currently our physicians are putting a blurb in their office note when they read an xray but not doing a seperate report. We own the equipment and I feel that to charge the global we need a report. Am I wrong? Thanks!

I bill for an orthopedic doctor and we do xrays in our office. Our doctor does a separate interpretation of the x-ray.

It is required that a separate radiology interpretation report be generated in order to bill the global or professional component of an x-ray. Read the radiology section of the CPT book the intro section, also the CMS Provider manual.
