Can anyone help me determine the correct code selection for this scenario?
Patient presents to the office for a post op after ORIF lateral malleolus. The patient had removed their own sutures which resulted in a complication of the wound, more specifically a wound dehiscence.
Although the procedure was an ORIF, I came up with the 998.32 for disruption of external surgical wound because the physician stated the dehiscence does not go down to the hardware. Is my logic correct? I'm also stumped on what E code to use since the patient removed these.
