I have a question regarding wound care EMR and billing software, specifically to a HOPD/WCC setting.
Scenario: Two line items are entered on a claim. The first is a regular CPT assigned with a specific APC, so an associated billed charge was entered. The second line item is an unlisted code, however; a $0 charge was entered.
Does anyone know if the software would accept $0 for a charge or if it would kick it back and require a value greater than $0? I'm assuming it depends on the software but we have heard wound expert and many wound care software programs will scrub out $0 charges.
