Does anyone out there a medical coder in the workman's compensation field? I'm curious to see if there's an actual field out there or if I'm the only one.
There are many coders that work in the insurance field. In the workman's compensation world, the coder does medical bill review to audit higher level E&M and procedures to ensure the coding/billing is correct. A coder must become familiar with the workman's compensation fee schedule for the state in which the charges/ services were performed. Payment is recommended per fee schedule allowance by the bill reviewer based on the review of the documentation.
