Hi fellow coders!

I have been out of the work comp coding loop for a while here in Massachusetts. Often times the work comp carrier requests reports and the billing dept has been using 99080 however I was told today that is not right.

The second code that totally mystifies me is the code for consult with a work comp case manager.

If anyone could help me out with these two codes I would greatly appreciate it. It seems when I ask the carriers - they tell me they have not idea or they cannot advise me -

work comp. case mngr codes

99366 is reported for conference services by the non-physician provider (PA or NPP) when seen face-to-face with the patient and the case nurse mngr or rehab specialist for coordination of care outside normal practice. If the MD provides the services with a visit encounter/follow-up, then -RS modifier is used with the applicable E&M visit code. (The Ga. State W/C Fee Schedule allows 50% additional to the E&M allowable amount.) As proof the nurse or specialist attended the visit with the w/c patient, have them date & sign their business card and attach/scan it to the patient's sign in encounter form for that day.
