Hello - what code are you using for MRI BREAST WIRELESS LOC? Per Imaging report "
A vitamin E marker was placed approximately 1 cm inferior and 1 cm slightly
lateral and inferior to the right areola. Patient was then placed into the
MRI scanner and a few postcontrast sequences were obtained, per protocol."
The wireless marker was not placed percutaneously. I appreciate any thoughts.

For an MRI breast with a wireless marker placement, you would typically use the CPT code for breast MRI in addition to a code that describes the placement of the marker, depending on the specific procedure and any additional services performed.

Based on the description you provided, the following codes may be appropriate:

CPT Code for MRI of the Breast:
  • 77058 - Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Breast (with contrast). This is used for a diagnostic MRI breast procedure, with the use of contrast as described in the report.
For wireless marker placement, there isn't a direct CPT code for just the marker placement when it’s not placed percutaneously. However, the use of a radiological guidance procedure could be involved. If the marker placement is part of the pre-surgical procedure, a code such as 19083 might be considered, though this depends on payer guidelines.
If you're ever uncertain about the exact coding, CodeBooks can assist you by providing an AI-powered search to find the most appropriate codes, ensuring you're up-to-date with the latest coding guidelines. This helps reduce errors in billing, especially for complex imaging procedures. Here is the link to access this- https://codebooks.rapidclaims.ai/
