Wiki Which modifier to use?

Patient was scheduled for a standard cataract surgery and also Istent. The billing note I received from that doctor stated: Attempted but unable to insert Istent due to anatomy.

Should I use a 52 - Reduced procedure or 53 - discontinued procedure - modifier on the Istent? only the standard cataract surgery was completed.

If you are coding for the physician and he attempted to put it in, then code the 0191T.52.RT/LT

If you are coding for the ASC, then enter 0191T.53.RT/LT

Payment modifiers ALWAYS go first.
