When a provider prescribes Tylenol 500 mg with a script, would you classify that as medication management (Moderate MDM), as this is an OTC medication that can be obtained without a script? Or Ibuprofen 800 mg; where you cannot obtain those mg without an prescription, however you can get Ibuprofen 200 mg and just take 4 pills to have the same mg dosage? Any thoughts would be helpful! No, I would not classify that as med management. Sometimes, the provider prescribes an OTC med in its prescription form for the patient due to convenience, insurance coverage, patient request, etc., but it shouldn't be considered prescription med management just because he prescribes it. It is still an OTC med. I would consider this low on the MDM chart for management options.
