Hi, I work for an Orthopedic Spine Surgeon and have a patient with a new herniation at C5-6 level but scar tissue from a previous ACDF at C3-4 made it impossible ~ Attempted removal of scar tissue is what I am trying to bill.
I'm new at this one!

Hi Kiki🦴:)
Here are some CPT & Dx codes may help you. CPT 11044 and CPT 11012 need size of debridement of bone. And check out dx M79.89, L90.5 and maybe T81.9X.
I hope helped you

It depends on the documentation. Was there anything else done during the case aside from trying to access C5-6? How far did the case go before they bailed out? Was the only plan and intent the 63020? Depending on what was done you might get away with 22830 (but the requirement to code that would have to be met). Also, it's possible it could be 63020-52. It depends on how deep they got in and if anything else was done.
