Medicare is denying a claim for a Vitamin D lab as not medically necessary.

Patient does have diabetes and hyperlipidemia which were on the RX order.

There are also kidney and thyroid issues that could be reported.
Would these issues work for an appeal for reconsideration of payment for the lab
that was denied.

Not really deficient in Vitamin D now, since taking as prescribed, so could not use that
as a diagnosis.

Suggestions or comments.

Hello I usually go to the Medicare website and look up the LCD and it will tell you with the procedure code what DX are covered.
