Can someone please help me? Do most practices offer B12 and Folate injections as a cash pay price? What are the codes if a NP is doing the injection in the office? Is the injection included in the office visit? Is the Vitamin B12 and Folate in the same injection? Do we put the medication on the claim? Can someone show me an example of claim being billed or all the codes included on a claim? I really need guidance. Thank you

If you’re offering B12 and Folate injections in your practice, here's a quick guide to billing:

  1. Injection Codes:
    • B12 Injection: J3420 (1000 mcg)
    • Folate Injection: J0055 (1 mg)
  2. Office Visit: Bill the E/M code (e.g., 99212) for the office visit and separately for the injections.
  3. Cash Pay: Many practices charge cash pay prices for these injections, ranging from $15 to $50.
  4. Not in the Same Injection: B12 and Folate are usually given separately, so you must code each one individually.
  5. Medication on the Claim: Include the injection codes and NDC (if needed) on the claim.
With CodeBooks, you can quickly find the correct codes for injections and office visits, ensuring accurate claims. It also allows you to verify if the NDC codes are required and helps ensure that your practice stays compliant with the latest coding and billing guidelines. I have been using this tool, and it has helped me in reducing my errors, time and efforts. I advise using this. https://codebooks.rapidclaims.ai/
