I am reaching out to clarify VFC coding well visits.
I seem to have mixed answers. What modifier is used in Florida? If the SP is used is it on the vaccine or adm?

Next the fee.Is it put on the vaccine or the adm? What dollar amount for florida is used or not?

Thanks for your help.

I am in Idaho but immunizations are a majority of what we do here in my office.

We use the SL modifier on the vaccines only. All vaccines that we receive for VFC eligible children are state supplied (hence the modifier) so there is never any charge for the vaccine costs. We do charge an administration fee. Each state has a cap on how much they can charge per shot. The second link below says that you cannot charge more than $24.01 per shot. Administration fees also have to be a per shot fee (90471,2,3 or 4) instead of per antigen. The VFC rules also state that if a family is unable to pay the VFC administration fees that the provider must waive the fees.

Hope that helps a little. :)

I'm in New York State and we use SL

We use the SL for the drug portion. I also looked in my HCPCS book and I couldn't find an -SP. So it could be something as simple as that.
I really hope this helps.
