Wiki venipuncture

If a patient comes in for lab work and the nurse does the venipuncture and there normal MD is off that day, can you bill it under their MD or do you have to bill it under the MD's that are in cllinic that day, for any insurance company or is it just medicare that is the only insurance company that requires that the MD is in clinic that day?

For Medicare, you need to bill under the supervising physician in the office that day. For commercial carriers, that may be different with each you just have to check.
