As of 05/15/18 medicare has changed their varicose vein reimbursement they no longer are accepting DX I87.2 which we use for their post treatment 6 month follow up ultrasound CPT 93970. Based on their medical policy they are only covered the DX coded for varicose veins but being we treated this and they no longer have the issue technically we should not be using the varicose vein diagnosis. Is anyone else having this issue and have advice on what DX code to use?

Venous Insuficiency

This is from an LDC specific to North Carolina, if the issue has cleared, what would be the appropriate DX for the 6 month follow up? Being it is post issue and not current i should not use the varicose vein diagnosis correct?
