Can you bill an EGD (43235) and VCE (91110) on the same day? The patient cannot swallow the capsule so we would like to place during an EGD. Is this possible? If you can bill both on the same day which code goes first and what modifiers are needed.

Who is the payer you are trying to bill to? It all depends on ncci edits and who owns the equipment.

The insurance is Tufts Together with BIDCO. It is part of MassHealth. We own the capsules, but the EGD would be done at the hospital that we are owned by, but has separate billing

if they are just using the egd just for placement of the capsule only then you would only code the capsule endoscopy 91110. If this is for the professional component you would use 26 modifier. If they are doing the egd for diagnostic purposes as well then you can code both. The 91110 you need to wait for the interpretation of the findings before billing out.
