I have an situation in which exmas are being ordered as Unilateral but the vascular physician who reads these exams requires bilateral exams. If a unilateral is ordered and it is not abnormal is it required that the interpeting need a bi?

exmas? do you mean exams?

hospital, imaging center, doctor's office?
why does the vascular surgeon require bilateral? (who gave him that right?)

If the patient's physician believes that only a unilateral study is necessary, then that's what should be done.
examination of the contralateral leg, if you choose to do it, would be comparison and not billed. You would still bill a unilateral.

We are facility. Doc ordering a 93922 but rendering changing to a bilateral. I have checked ICAVL standards and they do state that lower extermity Arterial segmental physiologic exams should be bilateral.
