I recently started doing Vaccines for Children coding and am confused on some things. I am located in Ohio. If I have a vaccine with no administration does that mean that I can't bill an administration code? The CPT book from what I understand says I can bill using a 90471 even though that is usually for adult administration. Is that correct? Can the various types of Medicaids decide if they will accept this code or are they required to accept it?

Illinois VFC

I bill Illinois Medicaid. However, our state Medicaid has it's own administration code it pays for on kiddos. You would have to read through your Ohio Medicaid provider handbook to see what codes your state likes to see on it's claims.
