V58.69- LONG-TERM USE OF OTHER MEDICATIONS.
WHAT CLASSIFIES A MEDICATION AS LONG TERM USE? 3 MONTHS, 1 YEAR, 2 YEARS? ARE THERE CERTAIN MEDICATIONS THAT DO NOT APPLY TO THIS?

Just for clarification, the V58.6X code range also specifies "current use", as in Long term (current) drug use. If a patient comes in to see their PCP and has Prostate Cancer, for example, the doc orders a PSA to be done and talks to the patient about their progress. In the assessment portion, the doctor notes "Prostate Cancer, being seen by oncology; receiving chemotherapy. We will do a PSA today." You would then code, 185 and V58.69.

Hope this helps! :D

Thank you soo much. So are there any medications that do not apply to this that you know of?

To my knowledge the only ones it doesn't inclued are the ones that have a more specific code like antibiotics which is V58.62. See the V58.6X codes.
