Can anyone tell me a different code to use for the admission of a newborn inpatient?? I have been using v30.00 (inpatient live newborn) and it has always been fine. Today I got a denial that stated The newborn medical service when performed as part of a routine or periodic physical exam is not covered. I called the insurance(BCBS of MA), and they said the codes I used 99222 & V30.00 cannot be billed together, one of them needs to change. 99460 is the E&M code for inpatient newborn, but this code is not paid by BCBS. So I have to choose a different ICD9 code. Does anyone have any idea which code to use for a healthy newborn Admission?:confused::confused:
