Hi,
I have a pain management doctor who wants to provider services at an additional office, same jurisdiction, but wants to know if he can use his current Medicare provider number/npi for this additional location that he is doing services at. Would I ONLY have to add this location with Medicare with his current tax id? Would he have to get a separate tax id for this other location?

Thanks

He would not need to get a new TIN (tax ID number) becaue this is an IRS reporting ID and though insurance carrrs use it, it is directly related to the IRS, not insurance carriers. You can have as many locations under the TIN as you would like and can even have different names that you call your locations, as long as they are filed with the IRS.

As far as locations with Medicare, yes you would need to upate the Medicare files with address locations, as well.
