One of my docs has been coding Ultrasound guided tenotomy/fasciotomy of the common extensor tendon as 24357, 76942, 76882.

Wanted to verify that those codes are correct. Patients either have medial or lateral epicondylitis.

Anesthesia: Local anesthesia only.

Operative Report:

Sterile sleeve was placed over the ultrasound transducer. Diagnostic ultrasound was performed with images in longitudinal and transverse planes. Areas of pathologic hypoechoic signals were noted at the proximal portion of the common extensor tendon near its insertion. The area was then prepped with an antimicrobial solution and injected with 9 cc of Carbocaine using a 23-gauge needed.

Once the area was anesthetized, a #11 blade was used to make a small incision and create a tract down to the tendon. The TX1 handpiece was then introduced into the tract. Once the tip was located in a hypoechoic area with the ultrasound guidance, the foot pedal was depressed and the area was debrided and the pathologic tissue was excised. A total of 50 seconds of ultrasonic energy was delivered.

Following the procedure, Steri-Strips were placed following Tegaderm and compression bandage.

He was discharged to the Recovery Room in stable and satisfactory condition.
