An arthrisciouc chondroplasty of the patella 29877 bundles into an ACL reconstruction 29888.
The ACL technically is not part of one of three different knee "compartments" the medial, lateral or suparapatellar.
I'm wondering if other providers are unbundling the 29877 with modifier 59 since it isn't part of one of the other knee compartments, or if they aren't billing it out at all?
I appreciate your help with this.

I work in an orthopedic and depending on what carrier you are billing, we either add a -59 to the 29877 or bill a G0289 in its place. Hope this helps!
 
I was told that the ACL is part of the patellafemoral compartment which in turn would make the 29877 of the patella bundled - same compartment. I would judt be careful of where and when you use the 59 modifier.
