The pain doc wants to bring in Ultrasound machine in the office. He will use it for diagnostic purposes prior to performing the procedure (let's say for TPI).

Can he bill for this procedure when he is not a radiologist? He is an Anesthesiologist who specializes Pain Management.

I was thinking he can perform it in the office but will be bundled with the E/M encounter. I checked the edits for say 99213 and 76942, they can be billed together!

Anyone out there who wants to share his/her thoughts please.

Thank you!

Since 76942 is actually for guidance you shouldn't have any issues getting paid, but the physician should make sure he documents that he used the guidance in his procedure note.
