I have a situation at work with our Administrator. Our physicians perform nerve blocks and are considering purchasing the ultrasound machine. In my research, we would bill 76942 without modifiers indicateing ownership of the machine and professional component. He feels we can be reimbursed for ownership of the machine by billing HCPCS, if so what codes and what is the average reimbursemnt rate? I could not locate anything in the HCPCS book. Also, said we would not need to bill a CPT code at all. Any advice is appreciated. I need to be able to give him black and white on why/how to bill the procedure, so if you can include references I can print. Thank you so much!

The two ultrasound vendors that I am aware of have reimbursement guides.
Below is the link for GE Healthcare. I was unable to access the Sonosite guide. Sonosite requires that you register with them in order to download the guide. I was still unable to download it after registering.
