Just a quick question re: a follow-up visit I'm reviewing. The provider documents debriding some crust bilaterally from the turbinates after the patient had RFA ablation (30802). He does this without the endoscope, so I know that 31237 does not apply. The patient is beyond the 10-day global period for the 30802, so I'm not sure if all services are just included in an E/M or if anything additional is warranted? Any help here would be appreciated. Thanks.

My questions are did the patient have a previous post-op/follow-up visit after surgery and if not, what is the date of service of the follow-up visit and the procedure?

The expectation with a 10 day global period is that the patient will have at least 1 post-op, follow-up visit and that is included in the surgery. If the patient presented for that visit 12 days out, instead of within the first 10 days, it would still be considered part of the global surgical package and not separately reportable.
