If you look under tumor it states to see Neoplasm, site, unspecified nature, but when you look under neoplasm there is only uncertain behavior or unspecified. Which one do you use ?
Tumor NOS can be found in the Unspecified column. If you look in the Tabular List of your ICD-9 book, it explains what the code range includes (ie. "growth" NOS, neoplasm NOS, new growth NOS, and tumor NOS).
Remember, never code from the Index. Always follow through and check the Tabular.
