My doctor did a tube exchange of a pancreatic fistula drain at a patient's bedside. The patient had a pancreatic abscess. He wants to bill a 43760 for the procedure. In conjunction with the procedure, he wants to bill a subsequent E/M. Does anyone have any ideas as to what code we can use that more appropriately fits this procedure? He didn't put the tube in.

49423?

This is definitely NOT 43760 because he's not working on a G-tube.

It's hard to give you a correct answer without the actual documentation. However, take a look at 49423. If no radiological guidance was used, you can append a -52 modifier.

Hope that helps.
